Stroke Foundation Young Stroke Project in the news

Former Shepparton woman Fiona Kleinitz had a stroke when aged just 31 years old

It’s awesome to see young stroke getting the attention it deserves!

Most people are unaware that stroke can happen at any age. Information for younger survivors is lacking and this is exactly what Stroke Foundation Young Stroke Project intends to address.

Thank you Fiona for helping spread the message by sharing your experience. Your story is one echoed by many younger survivors.

It’s nearly two decades since Fiona’s stroke at 31. Even though she feels she is lucky being able to walk, drive and work again, she says, “Don’t think that 17 years and all that rehab means life is easy. Because it isn’t.”

“At the time I was the youngest person in rehab, which was very isolating,” she said.
