We talked Young Stroke with the State Cabinet Ministers in Perth and Premier of WA

On Saturday 25 July 2020, Beth and I were invited to the community meeting with the State Cabinet Ministers in Perth and the Honourable Mark McGowan Premier of WA, Roger Cook MLA and Lisa O’Malley MLA.

As a student Nurse and Young Stroke Survivor Beth got to experience firsthand why her voice and lived experience matters, the importance of having a voice, the role nurses have in the wider community, how politics and policy play a huge role in our health system, and how we can influence change!

It was an absolute pleasure to meet them all and their compassion and interest in Beth’s story as a Young Stroke Survivor was refreshing.

We had an opportunity to talk about Stroke Foundation Young Stroke Project and see Rob Goyen (young stroke survivor) again who continues to be a great support to Beth. We talked Stride4Stroke 2020 and how we can continue to support Stroke Foundation and raising awareness in our community looking forward to seeing what we can do in 2020!

Raising awareness for young stroke is something Beth and I are extremely passionate about. It’s reassuring to know our voices are being heard within this project, in our community and at a state level. If you’d like your voice to be heard in the project you can register your interest.

Kindly,
